Coast favourite Simon Dunkley will bring his Souled Survivor show to Chema’s Terrace in Mijas Pueblo this Saturday, June 13 from 7.30pm.
Music in his blood
Dunkley is a vocalist with a varied background, former DJ, ex‑professional footballer, and a past contestant on ITV’s Survivor, but music has always been the constant.
His father worked as a Soul and Motown DJ throughout the 1960s and 70s, and that early exposure shaped Simon’s lifelong love of Northern Soul. He began performing in 2013 under the name Soultown Survivor before refining the act into Souled Survivor, which has since become a household name in on the Costa del Sol.
A night of hits and busy dance floors
If you haven’t been to one of Dunkley’s gigs, Souled Survivor brings his audiences a mix of Soul, Motown and retro reggae, with a setlist including classics from Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Otis Redding and Bob Marley. Another string to his bow, as a trained salsa teacher, Simon brings natural rhythm and movement to the stage, crowds lap it up and fill the floors to move as he belts out the hits.
Previous bookings consistently praise his performances, often pointing out the great atmosphere and full dance floors.
The venue a stunning location in Mijas Pueblo
Chema’s Terrace, (La Terraza de Chema), sits on Plaza de la Paz in the centre of Mijas Pueblo. The colonial‑style bar and restaurant has a gorgeous, spacious terrace, relaxed vibe and warm hospitality from owners Chema and his wife Domenic.
The menu to set you up for the dancing focuses, on fresh, market‑inspired dishes including salads, pasta, seafood and Spanish favourites. Live music regularly features on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evenings, so it’s not unusual for the terrace to turn into a bustling dance floor.
