The historic Castillo de San Juan de los Terreros in Pulpi has once again proven to be the ultimate hub for summer entertainment. Under the umbrella of the town’s vibrant Expláyate26 summer programme, the iconic coastal fortress recently transformed into a lively hub of learning, creativity, and family bonding, with participation from neighbours of all ages. From gazing at the stars to crafting handmade summer souvenirs, the latest lineup of events offered a perfect blend of education and fun for locals and visitors alike.
A night under the stars: Stargazing at Pulpi’s famed castle
One of the highlights of the programme was the Observación de Estrellas, or Stargazing, session. With a privileged location high above the Mediterranean Sea, the castle’s grounds provided the perfect low-pollution vantage point to view the night sky.
Guided by experts, families gathered under the night sky to identify major constellations, map out the heavens, and enjoy the twinkling, starry landscape. It was a magical activity that sparked curiosity in the minds of young, aspiring astronomers.
Crafting memories: The Photo Frame Workshop
Before night fell, hands-on creativity took centre stage with the popular Taller de Portafotos, or Photo Frame Workshop. This interactive session invited both children and adults to roll up their sleeves and design custom photo frames to keep in their homes as a memory of this event. Using a variety of different artistic materials, participants poured their imaginations into crafting unique, personalised souvenirs. It was the perfect way to create a physical home for the many memories being made along the Costa de Almeria this summer.
The summer fun will continue
The organisers extended a heartfelt thank you to all the enthusiastic participants who filled these activities with energy and joy. If you missed out on this round of events, there is no need to worry. The #Expláyate26 initiative is still in full swing, and San Juan de los Terreros has a variety of additional cultural, leisure, and tourism proposals lined up for the rest of the season. Those interested in participating should keep an eye out for the local calendar, sign up early for events, and most of all, enjoy a special summer in the charming town of Pulpi.
