Music legends on the Costa Blanca: Summer concerts bring Queen, Abba and Rat Pack hits

Music fans can look forward to evenings of nostalgia and world-famous hits as two popular live shows arrive on the Costa Blanca this summer. From the magical atmosphere of a candlelit string quartet performing the music of Queen and ABBA in Torrevieja to the smooth sounds of the Rat Pack in Villamartín Plaza, these events celebrate some of the greatest songs ever written.

Candlelight concert brings Queen and ABBA to Torrevieja

Fans of Queen and ABBA can enjoy two of pop’s greatest songbooks in a unique setting when the Candlelight concert series returns to Torrevieja on Friday, 31 July.

The performance takes place at the Teatro Municipal from 7:00 PM, where a string quartet will perform some of the best-loved hits by both bands surrounded by the glow of candlelight.

The 60-minute concert will feature instrumental versions of classics including Dancing Queen, Mamma Mia, Waterloo, SOS and Money, Money, Money, alongside Queen favourites such as Bohemian Rhapsody, I Want to Break Free, Don’t Stop Me Now, We Will Rock You and We Are the Champions.

Part of the internationally popular Candlelight series, the concerts are known for transforming well-known venues into intimate performance spaces, offering audiences a different way to experience familiar music.

Doors open 45 minutes before the concert begins and late entry is not permitted once the performance has started.

The event is suitable for anyone aged eight and over. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult, and the theatre is fully accessible for wheelchair users.

Seating is allocated on arrival according to the ticket category purchased.

Tickets should only be bought through the official sales channels, including culturatorrevieja.com and vivaticket.es, to avoid fraud.

The Teatro Municipal de Torrevieja is located in Plaza Miguel Hernández, in the centre of the city.

Rat Pack favourites arrive at Villamartín Plaza

Swing classics will fill Villamartín Plaza on Thursday, 20 August, when The Rat Pack Xperience brings the music of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. to the Main Plaza Stage.

The free evening of live entertainment starts at 7:00 PM and continues until 11:30 PM, with a mystery support act opening the show before the headline performance.

The Rat Pack Xperience recreates the sound and style of one of the most famous groups in entertainment history. Although the original Rat Pack was an informal group of Hollywood stars that included Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Peter Lawford and Joey Bishop, it became legendary through its performances in Las Vegas during the late 1950s and 1960s.

Audiences can expect many of the songs that made the trio famous, including Sinatra favourites Fly Me to the Moon, Come Fly with Me, My Way, The Lady Is a Tramp and New York, New York. Dean Martin classics such as That’s Amore, Ain’t That a Kick in the Head, Volare and Mambo Italiano also feature, alongside Sammy Davis Jr. hits including Mr. Bojangles and Mack the Knife.

Visitors are encouraged to arrive early, book a table and enjoy dinner or drinks at one of the many restaurants and bars surrounding the square.
