There were plenty of dropped ‘jaws’ in Palma this week as Hollywood legend Steven Spielberg’s spectacular superyacht Seven Seas arrived at the city’s newly renovated Club de Mar, adding another touch of star power to Mallorca’s already glittering summer season.

The impressive vessel, one of the largest and most luxurious private yachts currently cruising the Mediterranean, immediately caught the attention of passers-by along the marina. While Spielberg himself was not publicly seen during the visit, the yacht’s arrival quickly became one of the most talked-about celebrity sightings on the island.

Mallorca has long been a magnet for famous faces during the summer months, with actors, musicians, business leaders and royalty regularly choosing the Balearics for holidays. Spielberg’s yacht is the latest high-profile arrival to reinforce the island’s reputation as one of Europe’s premier luxury yachting destinations.

A floating Hollywood masterpiece

At an extraordinary 103 metres in length, Seven Seas is every bit as impressive as the blockbuster films its owner is famous for directing.

The yacht was built by acclaimed Dutch shipyard Oceanco and features exterior styling by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design. It reportedly has an estimated value of around €214 million, placing it among the world’s most expensive privately owned superyachts.

Designed for luxury and privacy, Seven Seas can accommodate up to 14 guests in seven lavish suites, while a crew of more than 30 ensures every detail of life on board runs seamlessly.

Its facilities are equally impressive. Guests can enjoy a private cinema, fully equipped gym, spa and sauna, an infinity swimming pool, jacuzzi and even a certified helipad, allowing arrivals and departures without setting foot in a marina.

Spielberg’s connection with the sea

Spielberg is no stranger to spending time on the water. The award-winning director has owned several yachts over the years, with Seven Seas replacing an earlier vessel of the same name. The current yacht was delivered in 2023 and was designed with a strong emphasis on family life, comfort and extended cruising.

Although the filmmaker is renowned for directing classics including Jaws, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Jurassic Park, Schindler’s List, Saving Private Ryan and the Indiana Jones series, he tends to keep his private life away from the spotlight, making sightings of his yacht all the more intriguing for fans.

Mallorca’s celebrity hotspot

Club de Mar has become one of the Mediterranean’s most prestigious marinas following a major redevelopment, attracting some of the world’s largest yachts alongside luxury sailing vessels and high-end motor cruisers.

Throughout the summer, Mallorca’s coastline becomes home to an ever-changing collection of superyachts owned by celebrities, entrepreneurs and international business figures. The island’s combination of sheltered anchorages, world-class marinas, fine dining and stunning scenery continues to make it one of the Mediterranean’s most sought-after destinations.

Whether Spielberg was quietly enjoying time on the island or simply using Palma as another stop on a Mediterranean voyage, the arrival of Seven Seas once again highlighted Mallorca’s enduring appeal among the world’s biggest names.
