A summer spin on a jet ski turned into a magical Mediterranean encounter when a family of dolphins suddenly appeared alongside a young woman off the coast of Jávea.
The unforgettable moment unfolded near Cabo de San Antonio, where several dolphins were filmed swimming through the clear blue water, surfacing and leaping just metres from the jet ski.
What had started as a simple trip out to sea with her father quickly became the sort of wildlife experience most holidaymakers can only hope to witness.
An unexpected passenger party
The young woman, who shared footage of the encounter on TikTok, explained that she and her father had been heading out on the jet ski for a swim when they unexpectedly came across the dolphins.
Video from the encounter shows several of the animals travelling alongside the jet ski, occasionally disappearing beneath the surface before bursting back into view.
Rather than a fleeting glimpse of a fin in the distance, the pair were treated to an extraordinary close-up display as the dolphins appeared to travel in roughly the same direction.
The young woman described the sighting as a moment that would stay with her forever.
The footage was captured on Saturday, August 8, and has since provided a joyful glimpse of the marine wildlife living just beyond one of the Costa Blanca’s busiest summer coastlines.
Dolphins off Jávea
The encounter took place close to Cabo de San Antonio, the dramatic headland separating Jávea from neighbouring Dénia.
The waters around this stretch of the Marina Alta are no stranger to cetacean sightings, with dolphins and other species occasionally spotted offshore. Jávea.com reported that similar dolphin encounters have been recorded in the area before.
Yet there is something particularly captivating about seeing the animals at such close quarters.
Against the backdrop of Jávea’s spectacular coastline, the dolphins could be seen cutting effortlessly through the water and breaking the surface beside the jet ski.
For the father and daughter, their planned dip in the Mediterranean suddenly came with an unexpected wildlife show thrown in for free.
And while thousands of people take to Jávea’s waters every summer, few will return to shore with quite such a memorable holiday story.
