Thousands of candles will turn the historic Casares tower into a dreamlike stage this week

A centuries-old watchtower in Casares is about to be lit up again by more than 5,000 flickering flames for a Night of Moon and Salt.

What is happening at Torre de la Sal

Casares Costa is bringing back one its most beautiful evenings with the third Noche de Luna y Sal (Night of Moon and Salt). On Friday, August 14, the stunning sixteenth-century Torre de la Sal will turn into a candlelit stage beside the sea. Music, fire and dance will run through the evening, with doors opening at 10pm. Visitors are advised to arrive early, as seating is unreserved.

After two years of sell-out crowds, the event has grown into a very popular summer event. Guests can the stars and enjoy the sounds of a grand piano accompanied by a string trio, then joined this year by a dance troupe making its debut in the programme.

Free tickets still available but be quick

Given how popular previous years proved, organisers have introduced advance booking this time to manage numbers at the venue. Officials say the system will help regulate access to the site and make for a more comfortable, safe and enjoyable night for everyone attending. Tickets are still available and can be collected in person from three locations: Casares Town Hall, the Secadero district office and the Casares Costa district office.

Local historic tower comes alive

Local officials have said that the event int just about music, it also breathes new life into one of the areas most treasured monuments. Mayor Juan Luis Villalon has called the tower one of Casares’s most emblematic sites, noting that events of this kind give it fresh purpose and turn it into a meeting point for residents and visitors.

Councillor for the coast Alejandro Garcia has promised an evening designed to move audiences, with piano and strings set against the sound of waves and a warm summer breeze.

A special night well worth the trip

Set against a full moon, sandy shoreline and one of Casares’s oldest landmarks, this free evening of classical music is a rare chance to experience Andalucian heritage somewhere far exceptional and far away from a typical concert hall. With capacity limited, anyone hoping to attend would do well to collect a ticket before Friday.
