Music by Coldplay and Imagine Dragons will be given a classical twist in Torrevieja on Friday, August 21, as the popular Candlelight Concert series comes to the Teatro Municipal.
Performed by the Cuarteto Salzillo string quartet, the 60-minute concert will feature a selection of well-known songs from both bands, all played in the atmospheric candlelit surroundings of the theatre.
Coldplay favourites performed by string quartet
Coldplay fans can expect favourites including Clocks, Adventure of a Lifetime, Fix You, The Scientist, A Sky Full of Stars and Viva la Vida, alongside the more recent feelslikeimfallinginlove.
Imagine Dragons will be represented by hits including Radioactive, Thunder, Follow You, Bad Liar and Believer, with Eyes Closed also included in the programme.
The concert offers a different way to hear songs normally associated with stadium shows and large-scale productions, replacing guitars, drums and powerful sound systems with the strings of a live quartet.
The Candlelight Concert series has become popular for presenting familiar music in intimate surroundings, allowing audiences to rediscover well-known songs through specially arranged classical performances.
Surrounded by the glow of candlelight, the musicians will bring a different sound to some of the biggest pop and rock hits of recent years. The programme is designed to appeal both to established fans of Coldplay and Imagine Dragons and those looking for something different to enjoy during a summer evening in Torrevieja.
Candlelight concert at Teatro Municipal
The event takes place at the Teatro Municipal de Torrevieja, Plaza Miguel Hernandez, 3, with the concert scheduled from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Doors open 45 minutes before the performance begins, and late admission is not permitted once the concert has started. Visitors are therefore advised to arrive early and allow plenty of time to take their seats.
The concert is suitable for anyone aged eight and over, although those under 16 must attend with an adult. The theatre is wheelchair accessible, while seating is allocated on arrival according to the ticket category purchased.
The performance adds another choice to Torrevieja’s busy programme of summer entertainment, offering residents and visitors the chance to hear the music of two internationally successful bands presented in a very different format.
