Benitachell has unveiled a comprehensive digital overhaul of its municipal tourism platform, putting the town at the forefront of smart, sustainable, and inclusive travel innovation in the Costa Blanca region. The new, state-of-the-art portal serves as a digital gateway aligned with the town’s core promotional brand, Respira Mediterrani, or Breathe Mediterranean.

Smart features and real-time updates for visitors

The new website, designed with a clean and modern look, features high-resolution imagery, intuitive navigation, and a responsive layout tailored for mobile devices and desktops. The site operates as a dynamic platform that will eventually integrate real-time data for users. Some of the planned features include live updates on municipal parking availability, local weather forecasts, and visitor flow management indicators, reinforcing Benitachell’s commitment to the Smart Tourist Destination model.

Universal accessibility and inclusivity removes digital barriers for users

A central highlight of the launch is the platform’s accessibility system, engineered to remove digital barriers for all users regardless of their physical, visual, auditory, or cognitive abilities. Some of the navigational tools include customisable text sizes and contrast controls, keyboard-only navigation, a seizure-safe browsing mode, dyslexia-friendly fonts, assisted screen reading, and even full compatibility with external screen readers.

Personalised travel planning and unified local experiences

Additionally, to help users plan trips, the new site will allow visitors to save preferred attractions, routes, and accommodation into a personalised “My Favourites” section. Users will then be able to share these itineraries across devices through links or automatically generated QR codes.

The site will also unify several of Benitachell’s cultural and recreational experiences into a single hub, eliminating the need to visit various external sites. Integrated experiences include the Museu al Vent, offering audio-guided routes and 360-degree virtual reality tours of local heritage sites; Turisme per a Respirar, featuring guided meditation recordings captured at idyllic coastal spots including Cala del Moraig and Morro Roabit; and Olimp Ciclista, which provides detailed route maps and specialised services for cycling enthusiasts.

At the announcement of the new site, local representatives emphasised that it reflects the town’s long-term vision of promoting quality of life, environmental respect, and cultural identity over mass tourism.
