Eva Longoria film puts Mallorca in global spotlight as The Last Sunrise tops Prime Video charts

Mallorca is enjoying an unexpected Hollywood moment, with Eva Longoria’s latest film putting the island’s beaches, villages and landscapes in front of a huge international audience.

The Last Sunrise, now streaming on Prime Video, has quickly become one of the platform’s biggest films worldwide, with Mallorca providing the spectacular backdrop for much of the story.

Recent figures reported by the Majorca Daily Bulletin, citing FlixPatrol, showed The Last Sunrise had reached number one on Prime Video’s Top 10 Movies Chart on August 27.

It was reportedly number one in 33 countries, including the UK and Canada, while reaching number two in the United States.

That gives Mallorca a potentially valuable piece of international exposure at a time when destinations around the world are competing for tourists and film productions.

Unlike a conventional tourism campaign, the island is effectively being advertised through a feature-length romance being watched by audiences around the world.

What is The Last Sunrise about?

The film follows Oriah, known as Ry, played by Reficco, who travels to Mallorca with her mother Isolde, played by Longoria.

Ry has a serious health condition and is facing difficult decisions about her future. During their stay on the island, she meets Julián, a local fisherman played by Lindez, and the pair develop a romantic relationship.

The story combines romance, family tensions and questions about living life to the fullest, while Mallorca becomes an important part of Ry’s journey.
