Mijas families receive €2,950 food donation helping 520 households

Families across Mijas are due to benefit from a food donation worth €2,950, organised by Soroptimist International Costa del Sol.

Around 520 families will receive help through two local food banks, one managed by the Mijas offices of Cruz Roja and the other by Nueva Cultura del Desarrollo (NCD).

The donation includes essentials such as milk, rice, chickpeas, macaroni and sunflower oil, providing support for households facing financial pressure.

Rather than being a one-off gesture, the initiative reflects the community work carried out by Soroptimist International Costa del Sol, which raises funds and works with other organisations to help women, families and vulnerable people.

Backing from the Helene & Bonnik Hansen Foundation was among the contributions that made the latest donation possible, together with support from Soroptimist members, collaborators and partners.

The foundation has previously supported charitable projects involving Soroptimist International Costa del Sol and food assistance in Mijas, making this contribution part of a longer-running relationship focused on helping families.

For those receiving food-bank support, staples such as milk, rice, pasta, pulses and cooking oil can make a real difference to the household budget.
