One lucky lottery player in Spain is waking up considerably richer after a ticket purchased in a town near Barcelona scooped a €1 million prize in Friday night’s November 6 EuroMillions draw.
The winning ticket was sold in Santa Perpètua de Mogoda, in Barcelona province, where one player landed the top prize in Spain’s additional El Millón lottery.
The life-changing win was confirmed by Spain’s state lottery operator, Loterías y Apuestas del Estado, in its official results bulletin.
The winning El Millón code was HFZ03558, and the ticket was validated at lottery outlet number 13,110, located at 14 Pablo Picasso street in the Catalan town.
Unlike the main EuroMillions jackpot, El Millón is an additional prize available to players in Spain who purchase a EuroMillions ticket. Every ticket receives a unique code, with one selected in each draw to win €1 million.
No winner of the main EuroMillions jackpot
Although there was a millionaire in Barcelona province, nobody managed to match all five main numbers and both Lucky Stars in Friday’s European-wide draw.
The winning combination was 49, 7, 37, 13 and 47, with Lucky Stars 7 and 11.
Total ticket sales for the draw reached €82,414,747.80 across participating countries.
There was still plenty of good news for Spanish players, however, with several other substantial prizes distributed across the country.
One ticket matched five main numbers and one Lucky Star, securing a second-category prize. It was validated at lottery administration number four in Vilafranca del Penedès, also in Barcelona province.
Two further Spanish tickets matched all five main numbers but missed out on both Lucky Stars. These were sold at lottery administration number 20 in Vigo, Pontevedra, and outlet number 67,165 in Cruz Santa, Tenerife.
EuroMillions jackpot rises to €141 million
With no ticket matching the complete first-category combination, the main jackpot will roll over to the next draw.
The estimated prize is now an enormous €141 million, meaning players across Europe will have another opportunity to become multimillionaires.
For the winner in Santa Perpètua de Mogoda, however, there is already a very good reason to celebrate, with the Spanish El Millón draw having delivered a seven-figure windfall regardless of the main jackpot result.
The latest win also adds another name to Spain’s growing list of lottery millionaires, with the country’s additional El Millón prize offering players a separate chance of a major payout alongside the headline EuroMillions draw.
