The infectious rhythms of vintage jazz and Lindy Hop are set to light up the streets of Denia as the second edition of the Fishtail Swing Fest returns on Saturday, September 12, 2026. Organised by the Denia Town Council Culture Department alongside local enthusiasts from The Lindy Hop Marina, this open-air festival transforms the town centre into a high-energy, outdoor ballroom for music lovers, dancers, and curious passersby alike. Best of all, every activity throughout the day is entirely free and open to the public.
Free Lindy Hop classes and live music in the heart of town
The festivities will kick off at midday in the bustling Plaça Maria Hervas with an open Lindy Hop taster class, giving beginners and seasoned dancers the chance to learn iconic steps or warm up their footwork. By 1:00pm, the energy will ramp up with a live performance by the Fishtail All Stars, bringing classic swing melodies to life right in the town’s social centre.
Street parades and evening solo jazz workshops
As afternoon gives way to evening, the action will shift across town to the atmospheric Plaça del Consell for a 6:00pm open Solo Jazz dance workshop, encouraging participants to express themselves through classic solo routines. The celebration will then spill into the surrounding streets at 7:00pm as a vibrant marching band winds its way through Denia’s town centre, drawing crowds into a grand musical procession.
Tropical Moon Jazz Band headlines the grand finale
The day-long festival will reach its grand finale back at Plaça Maria Hervas at 7:30pm with a headline concert by the Tropical Moon Jazz Band. Their irresistible fusion of swing tunes, warm brass tones, and danceable grooves will provide the perfect soundtrack to close out a joyful celebration of movement and music.
Participating in Denia’s vibrant swing-dancing spectacle
Whether you are looking to step onto the dancefloor, enjoy live brass bands, or simply absorb the festive Mediterranean atmosphere from a nearby terrace café, the Fishtail Swing Fest offers an engaging day of community spirit and foot-tapping fun. Put on your dancing shoes and head to Denia to experience the joy of swing music under the open sky.
