Tattoo artists, live music, urban art and more than €30,000 in prizes in Palma

Palma is preparing for a weekend of ink, music and urban culture as hundreds of tattoo artists and enthusiasts descend on the city for Mallorca’s first major international tattoo convention.

The inaugural Mallorca Tattoo Convention will take place from Friday, September 25, to Sunday, September 27, at the Palma Arena, bringing together more than 250 tattoo artists from Spain and abroad.

The three-day event is designed to put tattooing firmly in the spotlight as an art form, while also incorporating live entertainment, graffiti, exhibitions, food and other elements of urban culture.

More than 250 artists in Palma

Visitors will have the chance to discover a wide range of tattoo styles and meet artists from Mallorca, elsewhere in Spain and internationally.

Artists will be working live throughout the convention, giving visitors the opportunity to see the creative process up close.

For anyone tempted to leave Palma with some new ink, the convention will also offer the chance to get tattooed. The organisers say most participating artists will accept clients, although some will work exclusively by appointment while others will offer walk-in spaces depending on availability.

€30,000 up for grabs

One of the biggest attractions will be the tattoo competition, which comes with more than €30,000 in announced prizes.

An international judging panel will assess the work, with category awards taking place during the convention before the overall Best of Show title is awarded on the final day.

The competition will give visitors another reason to watch the artists at work, with the event combining the competitive side of tattooing with the wider celebration of the industry.

It is not just about tattoos

While tattooing is at the heart of the event, organisers are promising considerably more than rows of tattoo stations.

The programme will include live bands and performances, a graffiti area and other art displays, as well as exhibitions featuring motorcycles and cars.

There will also be food trucks and a dedicated area for tattoo supplies, creating a festival-style atmosphere around the main tattooing programme.

The organisers describe the convention as an event combining tattoo culture with Balearic influences, urban art, music and Mediterranean culture.

When is the Mallorca Tattoo Convention?

The convention takes place at the Palma Arena on Carrer de l’Uruguai from Friday, September 25, until Sunday, September, with opening hours of 11am to 11pm on Friday, 10am to midnight on Saturday and 10am to 10pm on Sunday. Tickets are advertised from €10, with one-day, two-day and three-day options.

The event is being billed as the first edition of what organisers hope will become a major fixture for tattoo artists, creatives and fans visiting or living in Mallorca.
