Happy hoteliers as Torremolinos outpaces all of Andalucia with nearly 4 million stays racked up so far in 2026

Spain’s original resort town logged 146,000 visitors in August alone, with 76% of all stays coming from overseas guests.

A record-breaking August for the resort town

Torremolinos has done it again and topped the charts for hotel overnight stays across the whole of Andalucia, with a whopping 718,237 nights logged in the town’s establishments during August. Figures released by Spain’s National Statistics Institute (INE) as part of its Hotel Tourism Survey confirm the resort is closing in nearly four million overnight stays for the year so far.

Visitor numbers rose too. August brought 146,025 tourists to the town, marking a 5.7% increase on 2025 and nearly 8,000 more guests than the year before. Both Spanish and overseas travellers contributed to the uptick, with international arrivals making up 60% of the total.

British holidaymakers still take the gold

Overnight stays from international guests now account for 76.1% of the total recorded so far this year, and national INE data confirms just who is filling those hotel beds: travellers from the United Kingdom made up 25.5% of all non-resident overnight stays across Spain in August, comfortably ahead of Germany on 14.5%.

Guests stayed an average of 4.9 days in the town during August, with hotel occupancy reaching 90.8% of available beds. Overnight stays from the domestic market also rose, up 1.2% year-on-year to 223,589.

Jobs and takings on the rise

Demand has fed directly into local employment, with hotel staff numbers reaching 4,241, a big jump of 15.2% on the previous year and a welcome boost for the town’s economy.

Room rates have followed the same upward path. Average daily rates (ADR) reached €208.50 in August, up 14.8% annually, while revenue per available room (RevPAR) hit €182.20, an increase of 11.1%.

Cumulative overnight stays for the year now stand at 3,978,987, with guests staying an average of 4.7 days. With autumn still ahead and British visitors continuing to favour the destination, Torremolinos looks set to close out 2026 with yet another record on the books.
