Flu and Covid jabs in Andalucia: when residents in Axarquia and Granada can get vaccinated ready for winter

Residents across the Malaga, Axarquia and Granada province will be able to get their free flu and Covid vaccinations this autumn, but the rollout is being staggered according to age and risk.

The 2026/27 campaign starts on Thursday, October 1, with different groups added during the following three weeks. The timetable is the same across Andalucia, so residents in Nerja, Torrox, Velez-Malaga, Almuñecar, Salobreña and Motril will follow the same schedule.

Who can get vaccinated and when?

The first group can receive their vaccinations from October 1. This includes children aged six months to almost five years, children aged five to 17 with health conditions or other risk factors, pregnant women and teachers of children under five.

Residents of care homes and disability centres can also be vaccinated from October 1, together with staff caring for them and healthcare and social-care workers.

From October 7, the programme expands to people aged 80 and over, people with high dependency receiving care at home and their usual carers, plus healthcare and social-care professionals.

People aged 70 and over can join the programme from October 14, as can adults under 60 with specified health conditions or risk factors.

The final October expansion comes on October 21, when vaccination becomes available to everyone aged 60 and over.

Police and other security forces, firefighters, prison staff and people whose jobs involve exposure to animals are also included from this date.

What about non-EU residents?

British residents living in the Axarquia or Granada province follow the same Andalucia-wide timetable if they are covered by the public health system.

That means a resident aged 80 or over can enter the programme from October 7, while someone aged between 70 and 79 can do so from October 14.

Those aged 60 to 69 join from October 21, subject to the programme’s eligibility arrangements.

Another change this year is the introduction of the high-dose flu vaccine from age 75, five years earlier than in previous campaigns. The Junta says people who live with someone for whom flu vaccination is recommended can also receive the flu vaccine when the relevant group enters the programme.

Appointments are arranged through the usual SAS channels, including ClicSalud+, the Salud Andalucia and Salud Responde apps, Salud Responde by telephone and health centres.
