Los Alcazares celebrates World Tourism Day with boat trips, art and paddle yoga

Residents and visitors in the Costa Calida town of Los Alcazares were treated to a special programme of activities on Sunday, September 27 as the town celebrated World Tourism Day with a series of experiences to showcase its fun offerings, unique charm, and coastal beauty.

A weekend of fun activities for all ages in Los Alcazares: Discovering the Mar Menor from new perspectives

The tourism initiative allowed people to rediscover the coastal destination from fresh perspectives, combining leisure, culture and nature through several events and activities. One of the standout attractions was an idyllic boat trip across the Mar Menor, giving participants the chance to appreciate the famed lagoon’s calm waters and scenic surroundings from a new perspective. Families and children especially loved the event.

Culture, heritage and creativity on display

Additionally, a guided visit to the San Javier Air Academy opened the doors to an important part of the region’s heritage, giving attendees a closer look at its history and operations. Here, visitors learned about the famed air base in which Leonor, Princess of Asturias, carried out her military training.

For those interested in creative events, a unique nighttime art safari took participants through the town’s streets to discover murals and urban street art, transforming Los Alcazares into an open-air gallery for the night.

Nature and sport, at the heart of the programme

Nature also played a vital role in the programme, with a route through the municipality’s breathtaking “Parques Vivos”, showcasing the local biodiversity and stunning natural areas.

Finally, the programme also included a paddle yoga session on the Mar Menor, combining fitness and leisure and allowing participants to connect and make their own memories on Europe’s largest saltwater lagoon, a deep source of pride for Los Alcazares and surrounding towns.

All in all, the weekend brought together local residents, visitors and families, creating a jovial atmosphere across the town.
