Esquina Park Rangers lift another tournament trophy

Based in Ciudad Quesada, Rojales, Esquina Park Rangers continue to build on their reputation as one of the longest-running and most successful clubs on the Costa Blanca. With a strong team spirit and a proven record in tournament football, Esquina regularly attracts players and supporters from across the area.

Their latest success came on Friday 25th September, when the club travelled to Hondon to compete in the Hondon Valley Flyers’ annual 12-team tournament.

Esquina Park Rangers dominate 

The competition featured teams including Fortuna Lions, La Romana, San Miguel, Montisinos, Formentera, Dumbarton, Hondon and Frailes. The sides were divided into two leagues of six, with each match lasting 15 minutes.

Esquina produced an impressive group-stage performance, winning four matches and drawing one to finish top of their league. That result earned them a place in the tournament final against familiar opponents La Romana.

Martin Young strikes to secure tournament victory

Esquina versus La Romana is always a competitive fixture, and the final proved no different. Chances were limited at both ends, but Esquina eventually found the breakthrough through in-form striker Martin Young.

Young calmly slotted the ball home, scoring the only goal of the final and securing another tournament triumph for Esquina Park Rangers.

The club scored 19 goals across their six matches, an excellent attacking return. Martin led the scoring with seven goals, followed by Scott with six. George and Aidie added two each, while Manus and Paul scored once apiece.

Esquina Park Rangers look ahead to November tournament

The victory adds another trophy to Esquina’s already extensive collection and underlines the club’s ability to perform in competitive tournament football.

The Hondon Valley Flyers hosted an excellent event, followed by a barbecue at Tippsy Terrace. Esquina also congratulated La Romana and all the participating teams.

Attention now turns to Esquina’s 5th Annual International Tournament, taking place on Thursday 5th and Friday 6th November, with 16 international teams from Spain, Wales, England, Argentina and Barcelona set to take part.
