Animal lovers can help feed hundreds of rescue animals while enjoying a Sunday walk through the countryside when Finca La Castellana restarts its charity dog walks in October.
The animal rescue centre, near San Miguel de Salinas, currently cares for up to 270 animals and says its monthly food bill can reach around €4,000. Three walks are planned before the end of the year, with entry fees helping towards those costs.
Autumn dog walks begin on October 18
The first autumn charity walk takes place on Sunday, October 18, followed by further outings on November 15 and December 20.
Walkers should arrive at Finca La Castellana at 10:30 AM, with each walk beginning promptly at 11:00 AM.
The route covers approximately 2 to 2.5 kilometres through the surrounding countryside and is completed at a gentle pace. A halfway water break will give both walkers and dogs an opportunity to stop for a rest.
Entry costs €5 per person, with the money raised helping towards the rescue centre’s substantial food costs.
With as many as 270 animals currently in its care and a monthly food bill that can reach around €4,000, the regular walks provide a practical way for supporters to contribute.
Walk your own dog or a rescue
Visitors are welcome to bring their own dogs along for the countryside walk.
Alternatively, people who do not have a dog can arrange in advance to walk one of the animals currently being cared for by Finca La Castellana.
As well as raising money, this gives the rescue dogs additional exercise, attention and socialisation outside the centre.
A barbecue will be waiting for participants when they return to the finca, with refreshments also available after the walk.
Christmas walk includes live entertainment
The final walk of the year, on December 20, will include an additional Christmas gathering.
Live entertainment will be provided by Alex Tipping, while stalls will add to the festive event following the morning walk.
The October, November and December outings will all provide opportunities to support the rescue centre while spending a Sunday morning in the countryside.
Anyone wanting to reserve a rescue dog for one of the walks can contact Lilly on (+34) 698 978 347 or message Finca La Castellana through Facebook.
