The Orihuela Costa has been turning pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, with local golfers, entertainers, businesses and volunteers all getting behind Maria and the Pink Ladies. The latest fundraising efforts have brought in more than €9,000, while a day of entertainment at Zenia Boulevard helped spread the important message of breast cancer awareness and early detection.

Zenia Boulevard turns pink for awareness day

The latest show of support came at Zenia Boulevard on Saturday, October 17, where Maria and her team were joined by performers and supporters for a day dedicated to raising awareness of breast cancer and the importance of early detection.

The event kicked off with Gwen and her Zumba group from Playa Flamenca, before local entertainers took to the stage throughout the day.

Lee David, Toni Ann, Alex Tipping, Georgia Baie, Mark Andrews, Valentina and Ballet Flamenco Raquel Pena were among those giving their time and talents free of charge to support the cause.

Sunshine Radio also supported the event, with Nik Smith keeping proceedings moving throughout the day.

Golfers raise €9,126 for cancer charity

The celebrations came as Maria and the Pink Ladies revealed another impressive boost in the fight against cancer.

Two local golf fundraising efforts have brought in a combined €9,126, with Club de Golf Villamartin raising €2,691 and golfers at Villamartin Golf at the Hub contributing a further €6,435.

The fundraising highlights the continuing support for Maria and the Pink Ladies from golfers and other members of the Orihuela Costa community during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Money supports vital early detection programmes

The money will support the Asociacion Espanola Contra el Cancer (AECC) and its work, including vital early detection programmes.

Early detection remains a central message of the Pink Ladies’ awareness activities, alongside the fundraising that helps support the wider fight against cancer.

Maria thanked the Pink Ladies volunteers, performers, golfers and local community for their continued support, adding that together they are making a difference.

The combination of fundraising, entertainment and community involvement has once again brought local people together, helping the Pink Ladies continue their work while keeping breast cancer awareness firmly in the spotlight.
