THE family of a jailed mentally ill man has pleaded with a judge to transfer him to a special centre in Huelva.
Raul Diaz , aged 27, of Velez-Malaga, was officially declared to be mentally disabled as the result of a motorcycle accident in which he suffered serious head injures.
Diaz’s later addiction to cocaine and hashish made a psychic illness he suffered worse. Following a series of minor robberies he was jailed.
Diaz’s sister Maria del Carmen fears his brother “will not get the medication he needs in prison.” She told local newspaper ##i##La Opinion de Malaga##i##.
“We know he has been trying hard, but the addiction leads him to offending. He is convinced he gives back what he stole.”
