PUBLIC Wi-Fi in San Sebastian de los Reyes, Madrid, does not allow access to websites that contain the word ‘gay’.
LGTB collectives have complained to the local council, which is trying to sort out a case of involuntary censorship on the municipal Wi-Fi connection which blocks all sites that display words such as ‘gay’ or ‘lesbian’ among others.
The council put in the filters because, as a municipal service, the Wi-Fi is open to all residents including those who are underage. They are now trying to correct this error.
