Harrison Ford injured on set of Star Wars

Harrison Ford suffered injuries by the door of the Millennium Falcon, while filming the new Star Wars series.

The 71-year-old American actor, who gained worldwide fame starring in the original Star Wars trilogy as Han Solo, was airlifted to hospital after suffering fractures on his ankle,bruising on his chest and was immediately assessed by medics on the M stage at the Pinewood Studios.

An early statement provided by Lucasfilm said: “Harrison Ford sustained an ankle injury during filming today on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII. He was taken to a local hospital and is receiving care. Shooting will continue as planned while he recuperates.”

The incident isn’t expected to slow the down the filming, as the shooting is expected to continue while Ford recovers.

The Health and Safety Executive at the Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire has launched an investigation into the accident.
