Strikes by French air traffic controllers are causing havoc to holiday makers as flights across Europe are cancelled or delayed.
The strike, which is in protest of prospective changes in air navigation in France, is expected to last for six days. However French authorities have predicted that the number of flights affected will not be as bad as first feared.
Flights to Spain are thought to be affected as they will have to travel into French airspace. Several airlines have cancelled flights as of this morning including Easyjet which cancelled around 25 per cent of their scheduled flights to France. The company has promised customers that they can exchange their cancelled bookings for alternative travel dates, after June 30 when the strike is expected to end, or a full refund.
French authorities are trying to keep disruption to a minimum, but with around 17,000 seats booked from the UK each week alone, it is expected that many travellers will experience long delays, if not having to cancel their holiday plans altogether.
Passengers have been advised to check with their airline prior to arriving at airports.

Here we go again, happens every year. The French know how much disruption the cause. They are peasants.
The proposed changes the controllers are protesting about are not just changes to French airspace but all of Europe. A few months ago there was strike or protest action across Europe, including lobbying of parliament in UK as controllers across Europe are convinced the changes will have an adverse affect on safety. Who else would know better? In this case the strikes are not about money but about safety.
what will you bet ? strike — well don’t buy a french car for 1 year.you will see there are no more strikes.for over 20 years the french are blackmailing us here. jealous !!!!
French controllers back at work. Now Belgian controllers have gone out, protesting at the same thing as the French. It isn’t just France!
