DOMESTIC TRAVELLERS: Airport is increasing flights to Spanish cities as domestic market recovers.
CONFIRMING their commitment to recovering domestic tourists, Alicante-Elche Airport is offering direct links to 14 Spanish cities this summer season.From Alicante you can now fly non-stop to Madrid; Barcelona; Bilbao; Oviedo; Leon; Palma; Tenerife; Las Palmas; Menorca; Burgos; Zaragoza; Santander and Santiago de Compostela, which is a route Ryanair says is being maintained throughout the year.The airline subsidiary of Iberia, Air Nostrum, will also begin operating direct flights to Leon from July, confirming the dramatic recovery of domestic traffic that has occurred in the terminal since January, with around 400,000 passengers (266,379 in the first quarter), 15 per cent more than in the same period of 2014.March saw a total of 107,628 domestic passengers, which represented a growth of 22.5 per cent over the same month of 2014.
