New grass for Mijas players

WORK is under way to install new grass and an irrigation system at the additional pitch at Las Lagunas sports city.
The work, which has a municipal budget of €190,000, is expected to take two months, and will benefit the municipal football school, local secondary schools, federated clubs and football teams who train there.
“This is a great project, much in demand, which comes under Mijas Sports Department’s policy to develop and improve facilities. Hundreds of users will soon be able to use the improved pitch as it will not only have new top quality grass but also an irrigation system,” general Sports Department coordinator Antonio Rodriguez Leal explained.
Manu Sanchez, Sports coordinator for Mijas Council, said the work was important as “all our sports people deserve the best and safest facilities possible.”
