BBVA: Headquarters in Bilbao.
A DENIA judge has overturned an appeal made by the BBVA bank concerning a commission of €20,510 that was charged to a firm in Pedreguer, setting a precedent for other companies to refuse to pay such charges. The amount accumulated over ten years, starting when the company did not have enough funds in credit to cover the bank’s management fees as well as the commission being charged on receipts returned unpaid. The court has now ruled that the BBVA must withdraw its charge, return the €20,510 and also pay court costs and interest, finding that the fees charged were unreasonable and unlawful.
