ALMUÑECAR’S Cultural Department has reported that cultural calendar events attracted a whopping total of 22,150 people in July and it has many more events lined up for this month.
Councillor Olga Ruano reported that the most successful July event was the Jazz Festival, which attracted approximately 15,000 people, followed in popularity by the Minerals Fair with 5,000 visitors.
Smaller but no less popular events included multiple concerts at La Najarra gardens, a candlelit concert and a Queen tribute show.
Upcoming events in the town include a concert by Forasteros on Saturday, August 8, at 10pm at La Najarra gardens and a flamenco show by Tomas Garcia and Camerata Bardi in the same place on Sunday (tickets €10 available from Contreras bookshop and Viajes Ecuador).
On Monday (August 10) there will be a free concert by the municipal band starting at 10pm on Plaza de la Constitucion and a flamenco show by Manuel Aire and Compas at the La Najarra gardens (tickets €5).
On Wednesday a hip-hop gig, Boom Bap! Almuñecar Summer Jam 3, begins at 7.30pm at Parque El Majuelo. Tickets are available from Halcon Viajes and Viajes Ecuador.
