SPANISH FOOTWEAR: The sector is continuing to gain market share.
RECORD growth for Spanish footwear manufacturers has been recorded in the last six months.
This was excellent news for the 17 companies based in the province of Alicante and demonstrates that far from losing competiveness, the sector is continuing to gain market share.
Total Spanish footwear exports reached a record €1.269 billion, which represents an increase of 15.5 per cent for the first five months of the year, according to the latest estimates from the Federación de Industrias del Calzado Español (FICE).
In 2014 it is estimated that about 150 million people in 180 countries purchased Spanish- made shoes, worth a staggering €2.640 billion. France, Italy, Germany, United Kingdom and Portugal top the list of the main destinations for Spanish footwear.
