MOBILE USE: There are no fines for passengers.
FEWER drivers were fined on Valencian Community roads last year.
Despite a generalised fall in General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) fines, more drivers were sanctioned for speeding in cases where this did not involve loss of driving licence points.
These rose from 125,055 in 2014 to 141,236 last year, an increase of 13 per cent and practically double 2013’s number.
In contrast the 93,166 fines slapped on motorists who did lose driving licence points for speeding last year showed a 16 per cent reduction on the 109,392 issued in 2014.
Fines for using a mobile while driving fell from 13,335 to 11,012 and there were fewer fines for breaching crash helmet, seat belt and child seat regulations.
These dropped from 10,322 to 9,305 while drink-driving sanctions fell from 11,849 to 10,774.
