THE Punta Prima beach tragedy in which a man died as he was posing for a photo in Spain has claimed a second life.
Last night a 20-year-old Briton was killed instantly when he fell, apparently while taking a “selfie”. Unconfirmed reports suggest he and a friend had clambered over a safety barrier in order to take a photo.
The as yet unnamed man was with British two friends, also in their 20s, in the Costa Blanca resort town of Orihuela Costa and plunged over 20 feet to his death off the edge of the promenade, landing on the concrete walkway below.
It is thought that they were attempting to take pictures of themselves and the view behind. Despite attempts by the SAMU emergency services to revive the man, he died at the scene.
He fell with one of the two friends who was initially taken to hospital in a critical condition, but who has now also died
The third man was also taken to hospital suffering from shock.
The accident happened at roughly 7.30pm when the promenade was busy with hundreds of other people walking and enjoying the evening sun.
