THE acting Foreign Minister, Josep Borrell held a meeting yesterday (Wednesday) with 70 members of the Cervantes Institute San Lorenzo de El Escorial (Madrid) to discuss a plan to spread an international message on the image of Spain.
Borrell said in his proposal, “there are countries, such as France or Germany, that have a strong identity, granted from school and culture, which in Spain has not happened. We have an identity deficit.”
“In a time of Brexit, fake news and the independence challenge in Catalonia, we must now more than every spread the ‘story of Spain’”, continued the minister.
The Cervantes institute is an institution that is tasked with promoting Spain across the world through language, culture and arts.
