Tourist tries to drown policeman

A GERMAN tourist aged 19 was charged with attempting to drown a police officer in Palma de Mallorca. Police detained him after he was spotted at 5am in the morning, stealing items that other people had left at the water’s edge on the beach.

The youth reacted violently, punching and then trying to drown one of the officers, whose colleagues immediately came to his aid. The attacked officer suffered bruising to his face and neck while the German tourist faces charge of attempted manslaughter, causing bodily harm and robbery with violence.
