THE Ministry of Health and Families in Jaen, have announced the death of a minor from Andújar who had been admitted to the University Hospital of Jaen suffering from meningitis.
Health professionals from the area have informed the management, teachers and parents of students of the centre where the child was studying the preventive measures established in the health protocol including the administration of chemoprophylaxis, both in the family environment and between teachers and classmates.
The Ministry is keen to point out that “it is an isolated case” and that residents should remember that the treatment of those people who have been related to the patient is only necessary if the contact is direct and maintained over time.
