Police in Madrid have closed down a ‘cocaine call centre’ set up by drug dealers in the capital, serving more than 2,000 customers.

MORE than 250 officers were involved in the operation, which led to 28 arrests and 21 simultaneous house searches during which over €85,000 and almost four kilos of cocaine were seized.
The National Police confirmed it was one of the biggest operations carried out, in terms of the number of officers involved.
In a statement, the force said: “The organisation had a real business structure in terms of the distribution of tasks, customer loyalty gifts, commitments in terms of delivery times and quality guarantees.
“The drug was usually distributed on motorcycles financed by the organisation, but during the State of Alarm, deliveries were made inside supermarkets near the homes of the distributors.”

The investigation began a year ago when the police became aware of several sales of ‘single-dose cocaine,’ and were suspicious at the ‘speed and manner of the transactions.’
Surveillance and subsequent investigations revealed orders were received through different switchboards, who then contacted one of 25 distributors strategically placed in eight areas across the city to make the delivery.
The National Police referred to it as the ‘telecoca’ method.
