Reports are coming in of absolute chaos at Bristol and Manchester Airports, with queues of up to three hours long.

Tweets and Facebook messages posted online show long queues that snake outside the terminal as people struggle to check in for their flights.

Those waiting to check in say that authorities have blamed staff shortages for the delays.

The problems

Travellers have today again experienced problems with long queues forming as airport authorities bemoan the lack of staff. With traveller numbers and the number of flights growing, airline, airport and border staff shortages have frustrated passengers, who now talk of delays being a normal situation in the UK’s airports.

Whilst many news sites carry evidence of the problems, official pages for the airports make no mention of the delays. They do however all carry adverts for staff, with shortages clearly an issue as chaos resumes at check-in desks.
