Connie Francis, 87, becomes an unlikely TikTok sensation after her forgotten 1962 song ‘Pretty Little Baby’ goes viral.
You can ask the flowers
I sit for hours
Telling all the bluebirds
The bill and coo birds
Pretty little baby, I’m so in love with you
This excerpt is popping up all over social media and has become stuck in our heads. It’s just so catchy!
TikTok turns forgotten Connie Francis track into a global hit
Legendary American singer Connie Francis has officially joined TikTok after her 1962 B-side ‘Pretty Little Baby’ went unexpectedly viral. The track, buried for decades, has now featured in more than 17 million TikTok videos and received over 27 billion views worldwide, according to ABC News.
In her debut TikTok video, Francis told fans:
“I’m flabbergasted and excited about the huge buzz my 1962 recording of ‘Pretty Little Baby’ is making all over the world.”
“To think that a song I recorded 63 years ago is captivating new generations of audiences is truly overwhelming for me.”
In her caption, she added:
“My thanks to you all for the huge reception you have given to ‘Pretty Little Baby’. I am delighted to join the TikTok Community and share this moment with you.”

Celebrities and influencers jump on the ‘Pretty Little Baby’ trend
The song’s rise has been fuelled by videos from Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner, Agnetha Fältskog of ABBA, and influencer Nara Smith, all lip-syncing to the infectious track. Broadway actress Gracie Lawrence, who plays Francis in the show Just in Time, even joined in dressed in full 1960s costume.
“It’s a cute song,” Francis told the New York Times. “I couldn’t imagine that it has the effect that it has worldwide on people – it’s hard to believe.”
Despite selling millions of records and becoming the first woman to top the Billboard Hot 100 in 1960, Francis had actually forgotten recording ‘Pretty Little Baby.’
“Well, it’s not a resurgence because it never happened in the first place,” she said.
“It’s an obscure song on an album that I did – it wasn’t even a single record. It went unnoticed. Now it has 10 billion views.”
She admitted she had to listen to it again to remember it.
“I wanted something for the B-side of a single and I chose something that wouldn’t give my A-side any competition. I don’t even know the name of the record that I put it on.”
TikTok opens new doors at 87
After being helped onto TikTok by her publicist’s son, Francis is embracing her comeback.
“When my publicist Ron Roberts said I went viral on TikTok, I said, ‘What’s that?’ That was my reaction. ‘What’s viral? What’s that?’ I thought my computer had a virus or something.”
She’s now planning to post regularly.
“I’m going to be putting a lot of different things on my TikTok now. Thank you, TikTok.”
