Regional support for football clubs
REAL Murcia and FC Cartagena will carry the emblem of the Region of Murcia on their jerseys this season, following a new sponsorship agreement with the regional government. The initiative is part of a wider public support program aimed at strengthening local sports clubs and promoting regional identity. By backing these teams, the government hopes to encourage both competitive success and community engagement in sport.
Government leaders present the initiative
Fernando López Miras, president of the Region of Murcia, presented the sponsorship at the Palacio de San Esteban. Speaking about the new collaboration, López Miras said: “The best is yet to come. This season, we back our clubs because they set an example. Young people are a priority, and these teams represent both history and hope. Our support will help them compete and grow.”
Real Murcia’s perspective
For Real Murcia, the announcement represents the culmination of years of hard work. The club’s president emphasised the long-term effort that has gone into strengthening the team: “We’ve worked tirelessly for three years, and today’s recognition motivates us even more. Visiting San Esteban was a new and inspiring experience for us. We will give everything for this opportunity.” Wearing the regional emblem also signals the club’s role in representing the wider Murcia community, both on and off the pitch.
FC Cartagena welcomes the boost
FC Cartagena also sees the partnership as a significant confidence boost. Director Víctor Alonso highlighted how the sponsorship brings both responsibility and reassurance to the club: “After a challenging season, this helps us regain trust. Wearing this emblem is a responsibility, and the financial aid is invaluable for professional football.” The support is expected to help the team improve performance, invest in youth development, and maintain its status in the professional leagues.
A strong message for the Region
The collaboration between the Murcia government and these two football clubs reflects a broader commitment to regional pride. By visibly linking professional sports with the identity of the Region of Murcia, the initiative encourages local fans to support their teams while celebrating the region. It also sets an example for young athletes, showing the value of persistence, dedication, and community representation in sports.
