The streets of Calpe’s historic centre are about to come alive with the sounds of syncopation and swing: in mid-July, the idyllic Plaza de la Villa will transform into an open-air music lounge for the highly anticipated concert, “Ecos de Jazz y Blues.” Starting at 8:00pm on Wednesday, July 15, this exceptional musical evening promises to stand out as a premier highlight of the municipality’s summer cultural calendar.
Jazz and blues melodies to fill the historic old town of Calpe
The initiative, a jazz concert that is certain to attract countless seasoned fans of the genre as well as newcomers, will bring live music into the heart of the old town. Both residents and summer visitors are invited to gather, rediscover the historic centre of Calpe on a warm Mediterranean summer evening, and enjoy the immersive sounds of talented and passionate jazz artists.
Talented vocalists and instrumentalists lead the summer lineup
The lineup features artists who are well-versed in the rich traditions of American roots music, and will be anchored by the powerful, emotive vocal harmonies of Fermín Nieto and Gloria Nieto, whose voices are perfectly matched to navigate the deep emotional currents of the blues and the sophisticated, improvisational rhythms of jazz.
An exceptional trio of instrumentalists will provide a backdrop for the singing voices of the concert. Drummer Pere Munuera will keep the nighttime pulse steady and vibrant, while Amadeo Adell will anchor the melodies with rich, deep bass grooves. Completing the ensemble is guitarist Lucas Ibáñez, who is set to weave sharp, soulful riffs throughout the performance.
A free musical evening open to residents and visitors of the Costa Blanca
Admission to this open-air spectacular is completely free, making it an accessible cultural treat for everyone in the region. Whether you are a lifelong devotee of classic jazz and blues or simply looking for an enchanting night out in one of Calpe’s most evocative squares, this July concert will promise an unforgettable evening of melody, history, and community spirit.
