A serious incident has occurred on a train bound for Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire, where multiple passengers were stabbed and two individuals were arrested in connection with the attack.
The train was brought to an emergency stop at Huntingdon station at approximately 7:39pm, following urgent calls to the police. Armed officers from Cambridgeshire Constabulary and the British Transport Police attended the scene.

The rail operator, London North Eastern Railway (LNER), confirmed the train‑service disruption and urged passengers not to travel in the area while emergency services handled the situation.

What Happened on the Train?

Details of the Attack and Emergency Response

While full details of the motive remain unclear, authorities confirmed that officers were called to Huntingdon train station after reports that several people had been stabbed on board the train. The incident triggered a large‑scale emergency response.
The East of England Ambulance Service said multiple patients were taken to hospital following the attack, though precise figures for injuries or fatalities were not yet released.
Among those responding to the scene were armed police units, reflecting the severity of the incident. Road closures were implemented in the surrounding area, including the A1307 near the town centre, to support public‑safety efforts.

Eyewitnesses described chaotic scenes aboard the train: frantic passengers, sudden stops, and heavy police presence on arrival at Huntingdon station. Services along the route were halted, with major disruption reported across the network.

Eyewitness Accounts: Panic and Heroism

Passengers and local residents have shared their shock at the unfolding events. Euro Weekly News reports on one witness returning through Huntingdon just after 8pm described seeing “up to 10 ambulances on local roads,” realising that something serious had occurred, but not imagining the scale of the attack. They added that they were “shocked” by what has happened.

Another commuter praised the quick thinking of the train driver, saying: “The driver is a hero who, already doing a hard and stressful job that requires the utmost concentration, managed to safely get the train to Huntingdon for the police to board. The train wasn’t due to stop there but did because of the emergency, and this man managed to get everyone there quickly.”

Passengers on board recounted the terror they experienced: “I’m feeling so nervous and scared at the moment, there were people hiding in the bathrooms to avoid the attack.” These firsthand accounts highlight both the fear faced by those on board and the rapid actions that helped prevent further harm.

Who Has Been Arrested and What Next?

Suspects Held, Investigation Underway

According to official statements from the British Transport Police and Cambridgeshire Constabulary, two people have been arrested in connection with the incident. The force is treating the event as ongoing while enquiries continue.

The suspects were taken into custody upon the train’s emergency stop at Huntingdon station, and the incident has been logged under reference number495. Investigators are appealing for any witnesses or footage from the train or surrounding station area to assist with the inquiry.

At this stage, police have not disclosed a motive or whether the attack is considered terror‑related. Senior government figures, including the Prime Minister, have expressed concern and urged the public to avoid speculation whilst the investigation proceeds.

Reactions from Government and Transport Authorities

Officials Respond to the Crisis

Prime Minister Keir Starmer labelled the incident “deeply concerning,” offering condolences to those affected and thanks to the emergency services who responded.
The Home Secretary echoed the sentiment, calling for calm and cooperation with the ongoing investigation. Transport authorities have acknowledged the disruption and said they are working with police to restore services safely.

LNER advised passengers to defer travel where possible, as the incident caused widespread delays and line closures across the affected route.

Impact on Passengers and Rail Services

Travel Disruption and Public Threat Perception

The immediate effect of the incident has been significant travel disruption, with customers advised to avoid the Huntingdon area and neighbouring stations until further notice. The emergency stop halted train services on affected lines and caused ripple effects throughout the network.

Beyond logistical complications, the attack has raised concerns about public safety on trains and public‑transport systems. Passengers on board at the time described scenes of terror, as some hid in compartments or rushed off the train when it stopped.

Transport‑safety experts note that while attacks of this nature remain rare, they can cause heightened fear and changes in passenger behaviour. Rail companies and law‑enforcement agencies are likely to review security protocols and response systems in light of this event.

The problem is that we as ordinary law abiding citizens are not allowed to carry weapons etc. How the hell are we supposed to defend ourselves ?? Im pretty sure that if i was on that train, and i had interjected and stabbed one of the attackers and he died later as a result of his injuries, i would be done for Manslaughter or ever the big M. PATHETIC. My sincere sympathies go to all of those commuters attacked or affected 🙁 🙏

There are three options. 1) Search blacks for knives before they get on trains 2) Finish with multiculturalism 3) Go back to the 16th century (everyone carries a sword and dagger).
