Everyone on the Costa del Sol appears to be getting ready for the festive season, and there are two big events this month which are set to bring the community together in support of Marra’s Legacy, the much-loved volunteer-run rescue dedicated to bully breed dogs.

With abandoned pets facing tough odds, these gatherings promise fun, games, and generosity to ensure every wag of a tail gets a second chance. “We are their voice,” the charity’s motto reminds us, and this November, everyone is rallying to amplify it.

Kicking off the month is the inaugural Marra’s Legacy Charity Night on Saturday, November 8, at the cosy Estepona venue De la Mar opposite Estepona Harbour. Doors open at 6.30pm for a 7pm start, inviting quiz teams of up to four trivia fans to test their knowledge while raising vital funds. Entry is a steal at €25 per team, with the added thrill of a raffle at €5 per ticket. But the real excitement? An exclusive auction for a luxurious 1.5-hour boat ride for four, complete with a gourmet lunch at the scenic Restaurant De La Mar, overlooking the Mediterranean waves.

It will be a fun evening of brainpower with bidding wars, all to fund Marra’s Legacy’s mission. Founded by British expat Laura Gibbins and Harry Richardson in honour of cherished bulldog Marra, the charity (registered no. 15256) specialises in rescuing stigmatised bully breeds like Staffies and bulldogs from neglect, abuse, and euthanasia. From emergency vet care to behavioural rehab and loving adoptions, every euro helps transform lives.

Then, as November draws to a close, the festive fervour peaks with the Annual Christmas Market and Fundraiser on Saturday, November 29, at the lively Smokey’s Bar in Fuengirola. Starting at noon, this full-day extravaganza turns holiday cheer into lifesaving action for Fuengirola’s voiceless animals. Expect a whirlwind of market stalls brimming with crafts and treats, plus bingo, a pub quiz at 2pm, music bingo at 4pm, killer pool at 6pm, and a raffle draw at 8pm, with non-stop entertainment all the way.

In a region where stray animals outnumber homes, these events go to show Fuengi’s compassionate core. Whether you’re a quiz whiz, bargain hunter, or animal advocate, your participation packs a punch. As Laura Gibbins puts it, “Together, we make a big difference.” For details or to volunteer, reach out to the organisers – let’s fill those bowls and baskets this November.
