After eight successful years performing across the coast, the acclaimed live band New Tricks has just announced the launch of their brand-new project, The BritPop Authority – a lively tribute to one of the most influential musical movements of the 1990s.

New Tricks has gained its reputation as one of the Costa del Sol’s most reliable and energetic cover acts, known for their high-quality and razor precise musicianship and ability to pack dance floors from Estepona to Nerja. Their foundation, built on flawlessly executing classic rock and pop anthems, has made them a staple act at countless venues, including festivals, private parties, and popular local venues. This extensive experience, honed over nearly a decade in the demanding live circuit, ensures that their new tribute act starts with a professional polish others lack.

Celebrating the energy, swagger, and creativity of the Brit Pop era, The new BritPop Authority delivers authentic live performances featuring classics from Pulp, Ocean Colour Scene, Cast, Primal Scream, and, of course, Blur and Oasis – with a respectful hat-tip to the trailblazing bands that paved the way for others, such as The Jam and The Clash. It just goes t oshow, the old dogs can be taught, after all.

Each member of the group grew up with these sounds, shaping their own music and passion. “This isn’t about silly wigs or daft gimmicks,” says singer Pete Carter. “It’s about great music – capturing the swagger of Oasis and the innovation of Blur. It’s a passion project first and foremost.” For Pete, Stephen, Mark and Gonzalo, it’s just that – a passion project. And the dancefoor will hear it.

The new venture doesn’t mean the end of New Tricks, well-known for their wide range of covers of 70s, 80s and 90s classics spanning from The Rolling Stones to Robbie Williams. The BritPop Authority will run alongside New Tricks, catering to tribute nights, festivals, weddings, and special events, offering audiences a nostalgic yet fresh live experience.

Carter added: “After the success of New Tricks and the revived interest in the Brit Pop era, it felt like the perfect time to put on our Gazelles and throw our bucket hats into the tribute band arena with the music we love. With an Irish man, two Brits and a Spaniard in the band, we can tailor our set for both Spanish and English audiences with classics they’ll all recognise and love.”

The band is ready for bookings now. For more information contact them via: thebritpopauthority@gmail.com or find them on Instagram, Facebook and YouTube @thebritpopauthority. For those on the Costa del Sol, you’ll probably not get to experience the passion until February at the Cazbah in Torrenueva, Mijas. After that, they’ll be playing Sevilla before we see them on the Costa again. But, watch this space!
