Correos, the Spanish postal service, has made walking the Camino de Santiago much easier, taking the load off travelling pilgrims by offering a luggage transport service. The service will now be available to pilgrims walking the main Camino routes in Spain and Portugal.

How Paq Mochila works

Known as Paq Mochila, this stage-by-stage transport service helps pilgrims travel light, allowing them to focus solely on their journey while their luggage is transported safely between stops.

The service is easy and straightforward. For a fee, the Spanish postal service will collect luggage from designated accommodation sites from 8.00am, then deliver it to the next stop on the camino by 2.30pm.

Thousands of people make the voyage each year. Now, with the Paq Mochila, pilgrims will only have to worry about transporting their everyday essentials, making long days of walking considerably more comfortable.

Routes covered by Paq Mochila

Paq Mochila is available on the French Way from Roncesvalles and Somport, on the Northern Way from Irun, on the Primitive Way from Oviedo, on the English Way from Ferrol, on the Winter Way from Ponferrada, on the Silver Route-Sanabres Way from Ourense and on the Way to Fisterra and Muxía .

This ensures that pilgrims across Spain and Portugal can benefit from luggage transport, reducing physical strain and allowing them to enjoy the journey more fully.

Planning your camino with Paq Mochila

Pilgrims are encouraged to visit the Correos website before they set off on the Camino de Santiago. There, they can access over 4,000 accommodation listings, explore the most popular Camino routes, discover useful travel tips and arrange their luggage transport service.  This makes planning a pilgrimage seamless and stress-free, especially for those walking longer distances.

Making the pilgrimage accessible for all

By simplifying luggage management, the Camino de Santiago becomes much more accessible to a wider range of travellers. With Paq Mochila, the spiritual and cultural experience of the Camino can now be enjoyed without unnecessary burdens.
