Sabores Almería has returned to Salón Gourmets in Madrid with a bold and flavour-packed showcase of the province’s finest produce, culinary expertise and agri-food innovation. Held at IFEMA, the 39th edition of the prestigious international fair features a 450-square-metre stand bringing together 24 producers, nine chefs and key figures from Almería’s hospitality sector.

Almería’s tomatoes and watermelon take centre stage

The opening day firmly spotlighted two of the region’s most iconic products: tomatoes and early-season watermelon. Television chef Samantha Vallejo-Nágera joined representatives from CASI to highlight the exceptional quality, versatility and international reach of Almería’s tomatoes. The presentation also unveiled details of the fourth Tomate de Sabor charity gastronomy event, supporting cancer research and community engagement through food.

Alongside this, the launch of “La que más sabe” introduced Europe’s earliest watermelon to market. Backed by institutional leaders and industry experts, the initiative reinforces Almería’s position as a leading supplier of premium, sustainable fruit across Europe, while promoting local agricultural innovation and seasonal advantage in global markets.

Wine tastings and culinary innovation

Visitors were also invited to explore the depth of Almería’s wine scene through a guided tasting led by sommelier José Antonio Moreno. Nine standout wines from local wineries demonstrated the diversity and growing reputation of the province’s viticulture, reflecting both tradition and modern production techniques.

Live cooking demonstrations added further excitement. Chefs delivered creative dishes inspired by Almería’s unique landscapes, combining mountain produce with Mediterranean seafood and contemporary culinary methods, offering visitors a true sense of place on every plate.

A week of gastronomy at salón gourmets

The programme continues throughout the week with a packed agenda of tastings, product launches and showcookings. From artisanal cured meats to premium olive oils and innovative recipes, Sabores Almería offers a comprehensive insight into the region’s evolving food culture and export strength.

Overall, the event reinforces Almería’s reputation as a hub of quality, sustainability and culinary innovation, strengthening its presence on the international gastronomic stage while celebrating its producers, chefs and agricultural heritage.
