Low-cost airline easyJet has officially reopened its base at the Alicante airport ahead of the summer of 2026, offering 1.7 million seats in the process, strengthening its presence along the Costa Blanca and reaffirming Alicante as a key Spanish hub on the coastline. The British airline is the second-largest carrier in Alicante, in terms of passenger numbers, and this year will mark its third consecutive summer season operating from the Alicante airport.

A peak season with more capacity and dozens of routes for passengers

The Alicante base, which boasts three aircraft during the summer programme, will run from April to October 2026, supporting a network of 22–23 European routes during its seasonal scheduling. While there are no new routes this season, the 1.7 million figure represents an increase compared to 2025 and all old routes are being maintained ahead of the peak season for 2026.

The UK remains the airline’s busiest market from Alicante, with 12 direct routes being offered. Some of the busiest routes include London Gatwick, Manchester, and Bristol, which when combined, account for some of the highest seat capacity this summer.

Two new routes that were introduced last year, one to Athens and another to Naples, are also being maintained, as they proved popular with passengers. Along with these desirable destinations, travellers also have direct route options to Amsterdam, Prague, Zurich, and Nice.

Three years of easyJet’s presence at the Alicante airport

The low-cost airline first launched its Alicante base in 2024 as an effort to expand its Spanish market. Since then, the company has been steadily increasing its presence at the Costa Blanca airport. Last year, the airline carried more than 2.23 million passengers through the Alicante airport, placing it just behind Ryanair and ahead of other low-cost competitors, Vueling and Jet2.

Across the country, easyJet now boasts 20 aircraft, including four in Barcelona, nine in Palma, four in Malaga and three in Alicante.
