Alicante’s San Juan beach recently celebrated its Santa Faz 0.0, or Holy Face 0.0, event, with leisure activities for young people in the area. The event aimed to promote alcohol-free beach fun among youths in Alicante during one of the most important celebrations of the year, complete with sports activities, technology exhibitions, games and prizes.

Alcohol-free fun in Alicante

The event, focusing on a concept of “responsible leisure,” was a day that coincided with the traditional Santa Faz Pilgrimage, one of the largest pilgrimage celebrations in Spain and which attracts thousands of people per year. This year is the seventh edition of the youth event, and has established itself as a healthy leisure alternative during one of the most crowded days of the Alicante calendar.

VR, live music, pizza…and breathalyzer tests?

Activities available at the Holy Face 0.0 event included virtual reality simulators, a 360º photo opportunity with props, leisure and sports activities on the beach (including beach tennis, beach football, and pétanque), children’s workshops with instructors, and live music with a speaker, all while respecting the no-alcohol rule associated with the religious event.

Pizza, fruit, soft drinks, juice and water were also available for the young people at the event.

Adding a fun and rewarding element to the sobriety aspect of the event, local police participated by conducting voluntary breathalyzer tests. Young people who registered 0.0 on the test received a ticket to participate in various prize draws. Additionally, 1,000 wristbands, 300 t-shirts, 500 caps and 250 balls were distributed among the attendees.

Alicante celebrates another successful Santa Faz

With the successful closure of the seventh edition of this highly-anticipated youth event, Alicante has celebrated another Santa Faz Pilgrimage in style. Year after year, the city attracts countless visitors and residents to its shores to take part in this important traditional celebration, and continues to establish itself as a cultural hub on the Costa Blanca where anyone can have fun…even without drinks.
