Community spirit will be coming alive in Arroyo de la Miel when locals gather for full day of fun, generosity and helping everyone in the community.
Charity group brings hope to families in need
El Vuelo de las Libélulas (or, “Flight of the Dragonflies”) supports the most vulnerable households across all of Benalmadena with food packages, clothing, furniture, and even job guidance.
Founded formally in 2021 (although informally in 2027) by dedicated women volunteers from Benalmadena, this non-profit volunteer association grew from small anonymous efforts in 2017 to help hundreds during tough times, not least through the devastating effects of COVID. Staff study every case carefully to deliver practical aid that restores dignity and independence. One notable heroic success of their was their incredible efforts with Leonor, a young teenage resident with a rare brain tumour.
What visitors can expect at the event
Guests can enjoy live dances, singers, storytellers, and music from a talented DJ throughout the day. Organisers will be serving from a giant paella, fresh gambas from Fuengirola, grilled meats, mojitos, and sweet treats including gluten-free choices at extremely accessible prices. A charity auction will add excitement while funds raised back food and hygiene supplies plus the anti-bullying project featuring mascot Nela.
Why participation matters for Benalmadena
This is a time to give back to your community and really get involved. Every purchase directly assists neighbours facing severe hardship, but who often go unnoticed in society. Visitors can meet volunteers, learn about ongoing programmes, and see how small contributions can create real change. Families can gain fresh starts through this network that partners with local shops and services.
Plan your visit to Centro Social Carola
Event details point to Saturday 9 May from 12pm until midnight at Centro Social Carola on Calle Lope de Vega. Admission stays free so everyone can join the celebration and support a worthy cause. Organisers welcome all ages for a memorable community day.
Drop by, enjoy local flavours, and contribute to neighbours who rebuild lives one step at a time. This gathering strengthens bonds in Benalmadena while delivering essential resources where they count most.
