K-pop fever is coming as FreakCon launches its first-ever K-Pop Fest in Torremolinos this May. Prepare for neon, slick dance routines and catchy tunes as tribute performances inspired by global sensations Blackpink, BTS and Demon hunters plus more are joining the event. 

This new addition is part of FreakCon’s 10th anniversary celebrations, hundreds of K-pop fans from across Spain and beyond will be hoping to flock to the Palacio de Congresos de Torremolinos on Friday, May 22 to be involved with the phenomenon that is Korean pop. 

Blackpink and BTS-inspired performances headline

One of the biggest attractions will be a Blackpink tribute concert by Rooftop Urban Dance Studio, recreating the fierce choreography and stage presence that made the South Korean girl group one of the world’s biggest pop bands of the last couple of years. 

Screaming fans of BTS will also get their moment, with PonySquad performing a tribute show dedicated to the K-pop superstars whose global fanbase helped push Korean music into the mainstream.

Other headline performances include Demon Hunters-inspired act Red Flag, plus appearances from Risin Star and Tami Tamako

The action isnt only on the main stage, K-pop lovers can enjoy karaoke sessions themed around Blackpink, Twice and ITZY, interactive quizzes, dance workshops, photocall areas and fanbase meetups dedicated to groups including BTS and Stray Kids.

Food trucks, cosplay culture and social media-friendly installations will create a festival feel aimed squarely at younger audiences and anime-pop culture fans.

FreakCon celebrates 10 years as southern Europe’s biggest pop culture convention

Taking place across the weekend of May 22 to 24, FreakCon has grown year on year into one of southern Europe’s largest festivals dedicated to manga, gaming, television series, cosplay, comics and digital entertainment.

The event regularly attracts international guests, streamers, voice actors, content creators and cosplay stars, and of course thousands of fans dressed as characters from anime, Marvel franchises, gaming worlds and cult TV shows.

This year’s big anniversary edition will also feature meet-and-greet sessions, gaming tournaments, exhibitions, workshops and themed zones spread across more than 30,000 square metres at the Torremolinos venue.

How to book tickets for FreakCon K-Pop Fest

Tickets for K-Pop Fest are sold separately from the main FreakCon weekend passes, with prices starting from €17.

The festival takes place at the Palacio de Congresos de Torremolinos on Friday, May 22, from 5pm to 11pm.

Weekend FreakCon passes and individual day tickets are also available online. Organisers are encouraging visitors to book in advance after previous editions sold out before the event.
