Villajoyosa will close May out in its spring cultural programme with a mid-morning concert by the OCA Ateneu Musical, taking place at 12:00pm in the Auditorio Centro Social, on May 31. The performance forms part of the town’s regular “Música en fin de mes” initiative, which brings live music to local audiences at the end of each month.
A event that will fill Villajoyosa with music
Organised by the Societat Ateneu Musical, the concert highlights the group’s ongoing commitment to promoting orchestral and ensemble music within the Marina Baixa region. The Ateneu Musical is one of Villajoyosa’s most established musical institutions, with roots in the town’s broader tradition of band music and community performance. Its orchestral and instrumental groups regularly participate in civic events, festivals, and educational concerts throughout the year.
What is the OCA? Local musicians shining in the spotlight
The OCA, or Orquestra de Cambra, features a flexible lineup of musicians drawn from the wider society, often including strings, winds, and percussion, depending on the programme. Performances by the group commonly span classical arrangements, popular adaptations, and contemporary works designed for accessible public audiences.
The Auditorio Centro Social, located in the heart of Villajoyosa, is a frequent venue for cultural programming, hosting theatre, cinema, workshops, and live music. The midday schedule will allow residents and visitors alike to attend the concert, and appeal to a wider range of audiences.
Villajoyosa supporting a spring and summer full of culture on the Costa Blanca
Free or low-cost community concerts like this one are a key part of Villajoyosa’s cultural agenda, supporting both local musicians and the public’s engagement with the arts. With its combination of accessibility and local talent, the OCA Ateneu Musical concert is expected to draw a broad audience and contribute to the town’s lively cultural calendar, just ahead of peak season.
