Tucked away in the Plaza Reis Catòlics in Elche, Müna Kümey offers something refreshingly different from the usual dining scene on the Costa Blanca. This small family-run restaurant brings authentic Chilean cooking to the table with a genuine sense of tradition and warmth.
Run by owner and chef Micaela, Müna Kümey focuses on classic Chilean dishes prepared using fresh ingredients and family-inspired recipes. The restaurant’s name comes from the Mapuche language, Mapudungún, and translates roughly as “very good” or “delicious”. After one visit, it is easy to understand why the name suits the restaurant perfectly.
Traditional Chilean dishes full of flavour
The menu is packed with traditional favourites, including very tasty homemade empanadas, rich pastel de choclo and generous plates of chorrillana topped with meat, chips and egg.
Every dish feels homemade and carefully prepared, offering diners a real taste of Chilean heritage rarely found elsewhere on the Costa Blanca. Portion sizes are generous, flavours are rich and the presentation remains simple but authentic.
The restaurant also offers a selection of Chilean wines, giving diners the opportunity to try varieties that are not commonly available in many local restaurants.
Relaxed atmosphere and friendly Service in Elche
The atmosphere inside Müna Kümey is relaxed, welcoming and full of character. Staff are friendly, happy to explain the menu and clearly passionate about sharing Chilean culture through food.
Reservations are highly recommended, especially during busy evenings. We would probably not have managed to get a table without booking in advance.
Müna Kümey is located in Plaza Reis Catòlics in Elche and is open from Wednesday to Sunday for lunch from midday until 4:00 PM and dinner service from 8:00 PM until 11:00 PM.
Reservations can be made online at munakumeyelche.es or by calling (+34) 688 796 836. Diners can also browse the full menu and prices on the restaurant’s website before visiting.
