Please sir, Salon Varietes wants more, Oliver! Open auditions in Fuengirola

Food, glorious food, and theatre, glorious theatre. Salon Varietes in Fuengirola has announced auditions for its autumn production of Oliver!, and the doors are open and ready for you to try out.
The team behind the production
The creative team is made up of Director Owain Griffiths, with Musical Director James Burn and Choreographer Alexandra Avery. Together, they’ll be transporting audiences to the foggy streets of Victorian London to recreate one of the most famous musicals of all time, and they need you and your talent to help them do it.
Dates for the diary
Auditions take place on Saturday, June 6 and Sunday, June 7, from 5pm to 8pm, by appointment only. If all goes well, you’ll be treading the boards from Wednesday October 14 through to Sunday, October 25.
Who are they looking for?
There are roles for almost everyone for all ages and vocal ranges. The full list of principal parts is as follows –
Oliver Twist — Male, aged 10–13, Treble Voice (B3–E5)
Fagin — Male, aged 45–70, Baritone (C3–F4)
Nancy — Female, aged 20–35, Mezzo-Soprano/Belter (G3–E5)
Bill Sikes — Male, aged 30–50, Bass-Baritone (C3–E4)
The Artful Dodger — Male, aged 13–18, Alto/Treble (B3–F5)
Mr. Bumble — Male, aged 40–65, Bass-Baritone (E2–F4)
Widow Corney — Female, aged 35–60, Alto/Mezzo (G3–D5)
Mr. Brownlow — Male, aged 50–75, Light Baritone/Non-Singing
Bet — Female, aged 16–30, Mezzo-Soprano
Noah Claypole — Male, aged 14–20, Character Tenor
Charlotte — Female, aged 16–30, Mezzo-Soprano
Mr. Sowerberry — Male, aged 35–60, Baritone
Mrs. Sowerberry — Female, aged 35–60, Alto/Character Voice
Charley Bates — Male, aged 12–18, Treble/Alto
Mrs. Bedwin — Female, aged 45–75, Alto/Non-Singing
To accompany the leads they are also looking for ensemble parts. There are opportunities for Workhouse Children, Fagin’s Gang, Policemen, London Citizens, Market Sellers, Pub Patrons and Servants. Strong singers, dancers and actors of all ages are encouraged to audition.
The team is specifically seeking performers who demonstrate strong storytelling ability, character and emotional truth, musicality and stage presence, commitment and professionalism, a strong ensemble spirit, and energy, warmth and creativity.
What do you need to prepare?
Prepare one musical theatre song of approximately one minute and bring either a backing track or sheet music. Some auditionees may also be asked to participate in a movement call and read from the script, so come ready for anything.
On the day, please arrive promptly for your appointed slot, be respectful to fellow auditionees and the creative team, switch your mobile phone off during the audition, and make sure you are vocally warmed up before you go in.
